An album that could had marked the fusion jazz-rock history forever if not overshadowed by the release of the first album by Billy Cobham "Spectrum".
Both drummers had almost parallel paths in the 70's, contributed greatly to the jazz-rock genre, they both brought new drum techniques and both were in great bands jazz-fusion bands (Cobham in the Mahavishnu Orchestra and Mouzon in Weather Report).
The parallel does not end here, however. Both released an album that became a classic, mandatory for all drummers who venture into these genres: Grammy Award Winner Billy Cobham with "Spectrum" in 1973, and Alphonse Mouzon with this "Mind Transplant" also in the year of 1973.
Curiously both drummers teamed up with the same guitarist: Tommy Bolin, also known for his works with Deep Purple.
Now... speak of "Mind Transplant" and Alphonse Mouzon:
The album is always at a fantastic rhythmically frenetic pace constantly driven by Mr Mouzon (who also sings and plays some electric piano). His well known funky like drum licks are always present through out the progression on themes (also that album cover seems like funky to me!) Alphonse Mouzon is an incredibly fast drummer, sometimes seems like there's another dude playing side by side with him. Honestly!
All musicians surrounding Mr Mouzon have a huge talent delivering notes and rhythms at amazing speeds while maintaining a breakneck groove - as a funky beat.
If looking for grooves, highlight the themes of "Snow Bound" and "Golden Rainbows". For technical mastery, "Carbon dioxide" and "Ascorbic acid".
For music lovers, jazz/fusion worshipers and aspiring drummers!

- Allan Holdsworth - All Night Wrong
Frank Zappa once called Allan Holdsworth "one of the most interesting guys on guitar on the planet". - Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive
"Frampton Comes Alive!" was the breakthrough for Peter Frampton. The most recognizable songs from the album are "Show Me the Way", "Baby, I Love Your Way", and "Do You Feel Like We Do". Peter Frampton at this best. Shurely one of the best classic roc - Dave Mathews Band - Live in Chicago
Originally recorded for a webcast this live concert ended up released in a live edition CD. The Dave Mathews Band is even better live and this show at Chicago's United Center true delivers some power tunes. - PJ Harvey - Uh huh her
A review for PJ Harvey album "Uh Huh Her". A pleasant surprise that will not surprise PJ's long-time fans and a proof of the solid, lasting talent from this NY artist.
